This is the page where we explain the ordering process for "custom" items, as opposed to things that are "ready-made", or in stock, which are described on another page.

can you make a replica of something in the gallery? or something similar?
It depends. We can usually make a new lighted garment that is similar to something shown on our gallery pages. In some cases the base garment may have been a one-of-a-kind item, or we may have an agreement to make a specific design exclusively for one client, so there would need to be some modifications.
We prefer to use our gallery of previous projects as examples of what is possible, and as general starting points for new designs. Like other forms of art, it might be impractical or impossible to make an "exact" copy of an original handmade design. We can achieve the same overall light density or dramatic effect, but the precise placement of lights might be adjusted for a different size or style of garment, for example. Other details might be altered to incorporate updated technologies, techniques, or materials. And, when possible, we like to let a design evolve and improve organically, as it is built.
If you're inquiring about a specific example on our site, please try to identify it with the name of the item, the page where you saw it, or a link to a picture, and it will help us to respond more quickly. This site is HUGE, and asking about "the jacket with the lights" doesn't narrow it down very much.
can you make something completely original?
Yes - we encourage you to be creative, and to request new combinations of materials and lighting effects. Please send whatever description you have, including sketches or pictures of your ideas. We'll let you know if the request is physically impossible or impractical.
If you have a more general plan, such as "flashing red lights, shaped like an arrow, on a jockstrap", we can make design suggestions for you, too. {and yes, that's a common request}
can you add lights to my favorite jacket/dress/hat/etc...?
In most cases, the answer will be yes. We can add lights to almost any existing garment or accessory, whether it is purchased or handmade, new or used (as long as it's clean, please). Contact us first to make arrangements - we'll agree on a basic plan, and tell you where to ship it.
how much will this cost?
Making dreams come true is not cheap, but we try to be affordable. Our pricing is based on the number of lights in a garment, and begins around $10 per standard LED light, $30 per foot of miniature LED strings, or $20 per foot of EL wire, plus the cost of the basic garment (if you aren't providing it). We also offer RGB color-changing LEDs for $10-$20 each depending on the type of LED and method of color control that is involved.
These prices cover the full installation of lights into a garment. This includes our general design services, the cost of all electronic parts and support circuitry, programming the custom animation patterns, and any sewing that is required to complete the installation and conceal wires within a lining. Batteries are also included.
Special features such as sound-reactivity will require an additional charge. Discounts may be available for multiple copies of the same garment.
There is a minimum charge of $100 per custom order. Complex designs with hundreds of lights will have prices in the range of thousands of dollars.

what forms of payment can I use?
We accept cash (for local orders), checks, and all major credit cards. We also accept payment via PayPal. This CUSTOM ORDER FORM (.pdf file, will open in new window) can be used to transmit credit card information.
We typically require full payment upon delivery, although other payment plans can be arranged for repeat customers. Depending on the nature of the work, an advance deposit may also be needed.
how soon can you fill a custom order?
Custom orders for full-body suits, with hundreds of lights, can usually be completed within 4 to 6 weeks. Simpler designs, such as bras, pants, or jackets, may be finished in 3 to 4 weeks or less.
Rush orders may also be possible. Let us know if you need the clothes by a certain date, and we may be able to move you to the front of the list. Additional charges may apply, depending on our current workload.
